Interesting but no Tesla coils

This article by Nikola Tesla is very interesting, and takes the form of a lecture that he gave to a group of scientists in America (i forget which). It does however include diagrams of the aparatus that he used. The begining of the article talks about the aparatus used to create the effects. I think this book must have been written before Nikola created the Tesla coil, as it doesn't mention it at all. The coils that he used at this time, whilst very interesting, are quite different to a tesla coil in operation. They had two output termianls with corona/sparks between. These coils would be considerably harder to recreate than a tesla coil, as they had to be filled with oil in order that the insulation not be destroyed. This may not be a problem with more modern insulation (he used cotton insulation), but still a Tesla coil would be easier to make. The main bulk of the article does not consentrate on the constuction of these coils, but on the effects created by them, and the possible uses of these effects. Tesla goes into greate detail about the luminous globes (plasma sphere type things) that he created, and on the possibilites of using similar devieces to communicate at the speed of light over great distances. Whilst interesting at first, i found that this started to get boring. No doubt the origonal lecture was far more exciting, as Tesla would have been able to dmonstrate these devieces himself. Without this, it becomes a bit dry. Also the cost of the above book is a bit high. The version of the article i read was included in another book (the amazing inventions of Nikola Tesla) which cost less, and included much other material.

Book arrived in good condition, only cover wasn't with picture shown above, but it doesn't matter to me, content is OK. I managed to read it and it was interesting to me.

Hard to read

There is no structure throughout the book, there is no contents page or chapters. So I find it hard to read.
